Title: Speaking French with your fingers

Topic: "Are fingers able to recreate the subtle atmosphere of a poem? 
How the mind teaches them to speak the language of a particular culture"

 




CLAUDE FRANK              11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Title: The Legacy of Artur Schnabel (1882-1951)
Topic: Schnabel's approach to music was passionate, dedicated and uncompromising. Mr. Frank who studied with the Master between 1941 and 1951 will discuss Schnabel's ideas while reminiscing about this legendary artist and teacher.







MENAHEM PRESSLER       2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Title: Celebrating 50 Years of Beaux-Arts Trio
Topic: An inspiring presentation on a unique career that spans half a century. Reaching the pinnacle of chamber music, the Beaux-Arts Trio has established the yardstick by which all chamber groups are measured. The force behind this without doubt has been Menahem Pressler. He will talk about his life as a performer and teacher with a special focus on the benefits that the study of chamber music can bring to the totality of a musician.

Title: The Art of Practicing
Topic: Focusing on the mechanics of piano playing, Professor Kaplinsky discusses recent discoveries regarding sensory and motor learning, and their implications on effective and healthy practice habits.






HAROLD MARTINA           4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Title: Was Brahms guilty of plagiarism?
Topic: Undisclosed sources for some of his thematic material. From whom did he get, borrow, or steal these materials? How did he incorporate them into his works?
