Our Mission
Highly challenging and stimulating, the Young Artists Program has achieved its fame as one of the leading international summer piano programs worldwide.
Combined with the opportunity to attend one of the world's most prestigious competitions, the Twelfth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, the Young Artists Program offers aspiring young pianists a full four weeks of intensive training and learning at top professional level.
With a wide variety of programming, every performing participant receives the greatest benefits throughout interacting with musicians of the highest caliber.

The Twelfth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition
Both performers and observers will attend all rounds of the competition, held from May 19 to June 5. Tickets are available on first-come-first-served basis, so in order to ensure seats it is imperative that
you order your tickets EARLY.
Tickets will be reserved for you as soon as the Ticket Order Form is submitted. Payment will not be processed until your participation in the 2005 TCU/Cliburn Piano Institute is confirmed.

Master Classes and Private Lessons
Every performer will play in two master classes and receive two private lessons, each with different artist teachers. Works presented in master classes must be from memory and at performance level. All master classes are open to the public. Extra private lessons may be possible through individual arrangement with the artist teacher of your choice, at an
additional cost.
Chamber Music
Additional three chamber music master classes, conducted by Eduard Schmieder, are scheduled in
which a number of selected performers will participate. Interested applicants please see listed repertoire. String players will be provided for rehearsals prior to the master classes. Participation in chamber music is optional. Click Here for Chamber Music Repertoire
Recitals
All performing Young Artists are required to perform in recitals, open to the public. Repertoire is entirely free choice. Duets and duo-piano works are also highly encouraged.
Symposia and Seminars
These sessions will provide insights and valuable information regarding the classical music industry and its future. Topics are widely varied and highly interesting. Featured guests will include former Cliburn Competition winners, concert managers, composers, and members
of the jury.
Lectures and Discussions
Although mainly designed for piano teachers, these lectures are also very educational and informative for Young Artists. Discussion sessions provide excellent opportunities to exchange ideas especially on the topic of competition, which has become an important milestone in a young artist's career.
Active and General Observers
The Institute warmly welcomes observers of all ages. This is a great opportunity to witness the teachings of many different artists of international standing, to attend the Cliburn Competition as well as various lectures and symposia. Observers are most welcome to join in all the social functions organized by the Institute. Active Observers will receive two private lessons, each with different teacher and, by recommendations from the artist teachers, perform in recitals. General Observers may also request private lessons at an additional cost. Availability of each faculty and lesson fees are subject to individual arrangement.
Practice Facilities
Scheduled practice time on grand pianos will be arranged for each performer. Observers are most welcome to use the practice facilities when not occupied by performers. Other practice rooms with upright pianos are open and free for everyone who wishes to practice. All practice rooms are open 24 hours a day.
Accommodations and Meals
The TCU dormitory, conveniently located right next to the music building, is recently renovated with comfortable lounges, large common kitchens, laundry rooms, and spacious bedrooms with semi-private baths. All bedrooms are equipped with linens and towels, a small refrigerator, microwave oven, and phone jacks. University cafeteria and other places to eat are all within easy walking distance. Cost of single room is $40 per night, and double room is $28 per person per night. TCU dorm offers a 10% discount for stay of 21 days or more.
Complimentary Transportation
The Institute will provide buses to transport participants between TCU campus and Bass Performance Hall where the Cliburn Competition will take place.
Eligibility
Performers: for pianists aged 30 or younger by June 1, 2005. Forty performers will be selected. Observers: There is no age limit and everyone is welcome.
Program Fees
Performer: $600
Active Observer: $450
General Observer: $300
Prorgam fee does not include competition tickets.
Limited scholarships are available for performers only, upon request and subject to evaluation.
