Teachers Program (June 18– 25 and June 22 - 25)

Do you feel the need to improve your piano skill? Do you wish to perform along with other teachers in recitals? Do you want to play in master classes? If so, the Teachers Program is just right for you. We are unique in that, besides the highly informative series of lectures and presentations, we offer a special program for piano teachers who wish to advance as pianists as well. Catering for teachers of all categories, participants have a choice of attending as General Observers, Active Observers and Performers.

Program Offerings

This program offers a great variety of events for both university and private piano teachers. There are master classes specifically for performing teachers playing for guest artists. Teachers are also encouraged to perform in recitals. Daily presentations by Seymour Bernstein, Christopher O'Riley, and John Owings on various pedagogy topics are interspersed with Teaching Demonstration sessions. All participants are welcome to attend other events, such as the Master Artists Recital, Young Artists master class, concerto rehearsal and concerto concert with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

Performers (June 18 - 25)

Twelve applicants are accepted as Performers, based on the audition recordings that they submit. In this status, every performer plays in one master class and receives two private lessons, each with a different artist/teacher. They also perform in recitals open to the public. In master classes, private lessons and recitals performers may play from memory or with music, and repertoire is entirely free choice. They may play different pieces in each event or the same piece every time. The director is responsible for allocating the master classes and private lessons with the artists/teachers, and his decision is final. Participants are free to attend all other events, including the Young Artists Program and Master artists Recitals listed on the calendar during their enrollment.

Active Observers (June 22 - 25)

Understandably, there are teachers who have not performed for a long time, who would love to advance their skills at the piano, but who are somewhat anxious by the idea of performing in public. If you have never joined this program as a performer, want to take lessons but wish only to observe the performers before taking a big step on stage yourself, the status of Active Observer is ideal for you. Active Observers receive two private lessons, each with a different artist/teacher. Repertoire is entirely free choice and you may play from memory or with music. The amount of repertoire prepared is also your choice. The director is responsible for allocating the private lessons with the artists/teachers, and his decision is final. Submission of audition recording is not required. Participants are free to attend all other events, including the Young Artists Program and the Master Artist Recital, listed on the calendar within the duration their enrollment.

General Observers (June 22 - 25)

This status is not restricted to piano teachers alone. Anyone interested in the program is invited to apply. During the program, General Observers are welcome to approach any artist/teacher of their choice for private lessons at additional cost.

Practice Facilities

Practice rooms with grand pianos are assigned to each performer with a minimum of four hours per day. Active Observers also have access to these practice rooms.
