Amateurs Mini-Session – in collaboration with the
Van Cliburn International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs
June 15 -18, 2016

This Session is especially designed for competitors of the International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, presented by the Van Cliburn Foundation. Taking place right before the opening of the competition, amateur competitors are offered three opportunities to perform in public recitals and to participate in two master classes. This intense three and a half day session is designed to fine tune the competition pieces and to allow participants to have a continuous experience of stage performing, thus building up their confidence and security. It is particularly helpful that participants have the opportunity of performing in recitals and master classes in a proper recital hall and on a concert grand piano.
Practice Facilities:
Each participant will be given a practice room with a grand piano in TCU’s School of Music during the mini-session.  A specific practice schedule will be provided upon arrival.
General Observers:
All music lovers are invited to apply as General Observers. General Observers have access to all events listed on the schedule within the duration of the program.

Accommodation and meals are only available for enrolled participants and only during the mini-session. Waits Hall dormitory is conveniently located right next to the music building. It is fully air-conditioned, with comfortable lounges, large common kitchens, laundry rooms, and spacious bedrooms.
