Hanqiu Xu

Hanqiu Xu is a pianist, educator, and researcher. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance with a Cognate in Piano Pedagogy at Texas Christian University. She previously earned her Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, cum laude, from Bowling Green State University.

Ms. Xu’s musical excellence has been recognized through several competitions. She was a Finalist in the 2023 IPPA Conero International Piano Competition and received an Honorable Mention in the 2023 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition. Additionally, she has earned accolades such as the Artistic Excellence Award from the Peabody Conservatory and the Bravo Music Talent Award from Bowling Green State University. Ms.Xu has performed internationally at renowned venues and collaborated with diverse musicians in both solo and chamber music settings. Her artistic depth and adaptability have made her a respected performer and valued collaborator.

Ms. Xu’s research explores Music Performance Anxiety and its interdisciplinary connections with psychology and pedagogy. She has presented her work at major conferences, including the Group Piano/Piano Pedagogy Forum (GP3), the American Psychological Association (APA) Annual Conference, and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association Annual Conference. Her publications in the MTNA e-Journal focus on innovative teaching strategies and interdisciplinary approaches in piano pedagogy.
