A world-renowned music educator and pianist, Marvin Blickenstaff's career as a leader in the field of piano pedagogy will be celebrated in a weekend of performances and presentations.

PianoTexas warmly welcomes teachers and music lovers to this special program. This is a rare opportunity to gain wisdom from a lifetime spent on discovering and improving the methods of performing and teaching. Marvin Blickenstaff established the art of pedagogy which is utilized throughout America.

The three-day program includes three presentations with question and answer periods; masterclasses, recitals by Teachers/Amateurs, and the annual Teachers/Amateurs Concerto Competition. A reception in Marvin’s honor will be arranged on Saturday night.

 All applications must be completed online.
Application fee: $60 (payable by credit or debit card)

The application fee is nonrefundable and will not be used toward the costs of tuition or accommodation. 

Due to high interest in this program reservations are made on the first-come-first-served basis. The application fee reserves a place but confirmation is made by paying the program fee by May 1, 2024.

7:30pm: Teachers/Amateurs Recital in Van Cliburn Concert Hall
9:00pm: Reception in Honor of Marvin Blickenstaff

Sunday, June 9

10:00am - 1:00pm: Teachers/Amateurs Master Class with Blickenstaff in PepsiCo Recital Hall
3:00pm: Teachers/Amateurs Concerto Competition in Van Cliburn Recital Hall

 

 

Accommodation

Check-in: June 7 after 12:00 pm
Check-out: June 10 before 12:00 pm (3 days)
Room and board: $333.00 (Per person)

TCU dormitories are conveniently located close to the School of Music. Each participant will receive a set of linens consisting of a pillow, thermal blanket, pillowcase, top and bottom sheets, 1 bath towel, 2 washcloths, 1 hand towel, and a TCU laundry bag.

A meal plan is combined with the accommodations. Numerous restaurants are also situated within easy walking distance.

At the conclusion of the program, participants may keep the set of linens provided. However, if they leave it behind, they will be donated to the Presbyterian Night Shelter in Fort Worth.

In partnership with the Hyatt Place, a limited number of rooms are available for confirmed participants.
